Ezkio, which has two population centres, one halfway up the slope and the other at the foot of the GI-632 road, is the most rural village in the region, and undoubtedly embodies origin, living history and nature. It is the perfect example of the also rural character of Urola Garaia, and its current heritage clearly reflects the importance of the primary sector. The Igartubeiti farmhouse stands out, which was built in the middle of the 16th century and is a magnificent representative of the Golden Age of the Basque farmhouse.
Ezkio’s main activity has always been agriculture, but the development of industrial estates affected this municipality and in the 1950s, as a result of industrial development in Zumarraga, some factories were set up in Ezkio.[...]
